Riding Mountain - The Gigantic Electoral District in Central Manitoba
Riding Mountain / Mont-Riding Federal Electoral District is vast. Over 100,000 square kms and over 90,000 voters. One City. Four Large Town Jurisdictions, 16 Municipalities, many with multiple towns inside their boundaries, no less than 10 First Nations - Anishanbe, Cree, Dakota. Numerous historic Métis communities. Many Hutterite colonies. All comprising our voters. Barrows to Treherne. Binscarth to Ashern. Manitobans might be able to visualize the scale of our Riding, but many simply cannot. We cross Lake Winnipegosis into the interlake. We include not only Riding Mountain (which includes Riding Mountain National Park) but also Duck Mountain and the eastern flank of the Porcupine forest, which all send rushing rivers into the big waters below the Manitoba Escarpment.
